Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
A therapeutic group using mindfulness practices to change your relationship with stress *and more*
Service Description
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction is a program stemming from Jon Kabat-Zinn's work. It is a heavily researched program with many benefits noted far beyond just stress management, including, anxiety & depression, chronic pain, chronic illness, self-compassion, caregiving, everyday stressors (leading to burnout), amongst many others. Throughout the program we practice many different guided mindfulness practices and anchor our discussions around these practices to help guide individual and group reflections. Outcomes include: accept stress from a new perspective, to better understand their own cycle of stress and stress response, improve communication, increase self-compassion, increase quality of life, decreased perceived stress and pain, greater sense of acceptance & sense of control, among many other qualities. No prior mindfulness experience is required. There is some weekly homework to practice learned skills in formal and informal ways (ie. setting aside time for quiet mindfulness versus integrating mindfulness into everyday living). Upon registration there is a brief intake discussion with the facilitator. Additionally, a signed confidentiality agreement is required. All participants will receive a certificate of completion.
